Xenergi Limited Refutes Claims of Involvement in Land Encroachment

Xenergi Limited's management has denied any involvement in the ongoing land encroachment dispute between Axxela Limited and its host communities in Delta State. A statement released by the company on Thursday clarified that it has no connection to the allegations, which claim that Xenergi is attempting to monopolize gas supply in the region.

The statement read: “The management of Xenergi Limited has taken note of media reports attributing a statement from Axxela Limited, which alleges our company's involvement in a land dispute between Axxela and its host communities in Delta State.

“Xenergi Limited firmly rejects any claims that suggest it is involved in land encroachment or causing community disruptions. The assertion in the statement that Xenergi is attempting to monopolize the region’s gas supply through Emu Ebendo in what is essentially a trade war is regrettable, as we remain a focused commercial entity with no involvement in the community dispute.

“To date, we have maintained a long-standing and peaceful coexistence with our host communities, enabling optimized field operations with minimal social or security disruptions. This has been achieved through our commitment to the lawful and peaceful acquisition of land from our host communities. Our operations are based on well-structured Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreements and collaborative community arrangements that promote infrastructure growth, economic empowerment, and sustainable development in Delta State. Our land acquisition processes strictly adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks, ensuring full participation and consent from key stakeholders.

“We strongly believe that disputes of this nature should be resolved through dialogue, legal means, and respect for institutional processes. We remain committed to any process that fosters harmonious resolutions and brings all parties together to support the government’s objectives in the gas industry, as outlined in the Decade of Gas programme. We therefore call on all relevant authorities and stakeholders to intervene and restore peace, trust, and stability in our host communities. We advocate for development that is based on fairness, respect for lawful ownership, and genuine community engagement.

“Xenergi remains dedicated to working with community leaders, authorities, and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful resolution. Our commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, and progress through lawful and ethical means remains steadfast.

“We urge all parties to cease any further altercations and disruptive actions, to create an environment conducive to resolution, as the future of Delta State depends on the sustainable, transparent, and fair principles that we continue to uphold.”
